ginning of a fine serial story entitled "The Return of Betty Barnum," which tells of
a girl who can drive a team of oxen or tie a bow of ribbon equally well. The GIRLS'
COMPANION is a large, eight-page, illustrated weekly paper, all for girls. It wouldn't
suit the boys at all. It is brimful of both long stories and short stories, and news about every-
thing of interest to wide-awake girls. Among the regular departments that appear from week to
