CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL INSTITUTE—This im-
pressive building occupies a suitable site adjoining the
Confederate Soldiers' Home and is surrounded by a beautiful
park. Erected for the purpose of perpetuating the memories
of persons distinguished in the Civil and Military life of the
Confederacy and of preserving the now priceless relics of that
memorable period. The cornerstone was laid May 20th, 1918.
