CANDLESTICK PARK
Home of the San Francisco Giants, 1960-present
UNCERTAIN FUTURE – After more than a quarter-century in
Candlestick Park, the Giants' future home is uncertain. Wind, cold
19.0
and criticism of the ballpark have led to proposals that the team
move. An expensive downtown domed facility has been suggest-
ed; heading south to the San Jose area is another recommenda-
tion. With night game attendance dwindling, the Giants in '85
were playing mostly in the afternoon. But despite the problems,
who can forget the many memorable events at Candlestick
spotlighting ballplayers as Mays, McCovey, Cepeda, Marichal,
Davenport, Kuenn, Alou, Sanford, Bonds, McCormick, Bryant,
Clark and Kingman.
