THOUGH loud, obnoxious, manipulative and insulting, Lucy's not all bad. Hidden beneath
her vanity and selfishness, a romantic spirit emerges-she is head-over-heels in love with
Schroeder. Although Schroeder finds Lucy's fascination with him irritating, he puts up with
her because she likes to listen to him play the piano. Instead of a lemonade stand, Lucy runs
a psychiatric booth and charges a nickel for advice. Charlie Brown is a regular customer-
"I have deep feelings of depression. What can I do about this?" Lucy simply says, "Snap out
of it!... Five cents, please." Her little brother Linus takes the brunt of her abuse. She says,
"Look, do you think I enjoy bossing you around? Do you honestly think that just because I'm
your older sister, I actually enjoy telling you what to do? Do you really think I enjoy it?" Linus
calmly replies, "Yes." Lucy retorts, "How did you know?"
