PEANUTS
LINUS is a paradox. While sucking his thumb and clinging to his security blanket, he
ponders the meaning of the universe and man's inhumanity to man. Linus's inconsistencies
become apparent, however, when Charlie Brown argues with him in a philosophical debate,
"So you think the world is getting better? Well, if you've got so much confidence in the world's
getting better, how come you hang onto that blanket?" Linus quietly ponders this question
and admits, "Touché!" Much to his dismay, Charlie Brown's little sister, Sally, has a crush on
Linus and calls him her "Sweet Babboo!" He is also the victim of his bossy older sister Lucy,
who strives to make his life miserable. Linus asks, "Why do you want to criticize me all the
time?" She responds, "I don't want to criticize you. . . ALL I WANT TO DO IS YELL AT
OU!!" Linus concludes, "I guess that's not asking too much."
