A CAPE COD CRANBERRY PLANTATION

Back:
The light area shows newly-set vines which send
out runners making a matted velvet covering as shown
in the dark area. On the right is a reservoir to
flood the plantation for protection against frosts.
Great progress has been made in the cranberry
industry since the Indians taught the Pilgrims the
use of this delicious fruit. Now the growers take
pride in vine-ripening their berries until mellow and
juicy, then preserving them in cans by a particular
process in nearby plants so that today their famous
Ocean Spray Brand is purchased every day in the
year in all the world.
