"In 1813, a wagon train under military escort,
carried Du Pont Powder from Brandywine Mills
near Wilimington Del., to Commodore Perry at
Erie, Pa. This was the powder with which Perry
won his famous fight. Now, a hundred years
later, the Du Pont Powder Company is sending
over the same route, a reproduction of the famous
wagon train, which will deliver Du Pont powder
to Commodore Perry's original battleship, "The
Niagara", which has been raised and restored
for the centenary celebration.
This picture was taken July 4 th - 1913 as powder
train was leaving the Saegertown Inn, where they
had stopped for dinner as the guests of Frank
M. Fox, the proprietor."
