THE PROPER VACATION SPIRIT
comes to all of us. If it doesn't, something is wrong.
Don't allow petty ignition troubles to mar your play-
spell. A RELIABLE IGNITION CABLE
(Packard) is the remedy.

QUALITY IN DEMAND
It is now quite THE THING to exact the highest grade
materials that go to make up the whole ignition outfit, even
though so-called "economy" in other features still has many
adherents.
Mr. R. H. Combs, a prominent writer and authority on
ignition matters, is doing much to educate the motoring public
on the NECESSITY OF GOOD CABLE. We herewith
quote an extract from his article "Electricity As Applied to
Motor Ignition" which appeared in Motor Boat, March 10, 1908.
"Nothing can cause trouble quicker or be so hard to locate as
wire trouble on the ignition outfit; in fact, there is nothing about
the ignition outfit so liable to become deranged as the wiring.
For this reason I would say, GET GOOD WIRE. The best
wire the market affords is none too good. In fact, there is at this
time on the market wire called ignition cable that for ignition
work outside the primary circuit is absolutely worse than lamp
cord; worse, because the man who buys it puts his faith in it
and believes that because it is covered with a half-inch of dope
that looks like rubber and has a braid outside covering that it is
a 'safe wire' and does not take the pains to protect it as he
would if he were using ordinary lamp cord. In buying wire,
forget the price: GOOD WIRE is what you want. You
want GOOD RUBBER covering on it and you want a good
outside braid or finish of some kind to protect the rubber. You
want the outside of your wire, especially in marine work, to be
flexible so that it will give and take without splitting or breaking
and exposing to the action of the oil and the elements that rub-
ber covering which is all that stands between you and bad igni-
tion, which sometimes smacks of the country on the other side
of the River Styx."
Note: Mr. Combs, in our opinion, hits the nail
squarely on the head. Doesn't your experience say
"Amen !" to it?
