Camp Davis was named in honor of Major General Richmond P. Davis, distinguished veteran of World War I, a native of North Carolina. It is located about 5 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, 30 miles north of Wilmington. 20.000 officers and men of coast artillery units is the authorized strength of the Camp.
