The TOWN HALL is a beautiful structure in the Lombard
style of architecture, and cost $65,000. The corner-stone was
laid on July 4 th, 1868, and the building dedicated in June,
1869. At the north corner is a tower 75 feet high, and
at the south corner a memorial tower 133 feet high; the latter
was erected as a monument to the soldiers who died in the
Civil War, and has the Soldiers' Tablet upon its front, near
the base. An excellent view of the town can be had from the
Tower.
