Ruidoso Country, "The Mountain Land of Noisy
Water" is part of the huge Lincoln National Forest
and a summer recreational area that annually
draws thousands from other states, just as the splen-
did winter climate of this section makes it attrac-
tive to thousands during the colder months. Legend
has it that Ruidoso, which is the Spanish word for
Noisy was first applied to this crystal clear stream
by Coronado.
