MOODY BIBLE INSTITUTE
153 Institute Place, Chicago 10, Ill.
153 BUILDING (Original Building)—Standing
near the site of this building, Dwight L. Moody
prayed that God would give him this lot to
start a Bible Institute. A year later his prayer
was answered and, in 1889, this first building
was erected. At its inception the organization
was first known as the Bible Institute for
Home and Foreign Missions of the Chicago
Evangelization Society; after his death re-
named Moody Bible Institute. Originally hous-
ing all administrative offices and classrooms
of the Institute, the 153 Building now is used
mainly as a men's dormitory. From this
humble beginning the Institute has expanded
to 24 buildings which it owns and operates.
