Sidney Lanier School was erected in the year 1936. It was named in honor of the port, Sidney Lanier, who write the famous "Marshes of Glynn." This s a 22-room elementary school and in addition has a cafeteria which is equipped to feed 2000 children daily.

    I attended Sidney Lanier School back in 1962-63. I walked from Johnston St to school and home everyday. I remember playing tag during recess, and tripping a boy named Lee when he walked past my desk. I'm so thankful the school is being renovated. So much history and memories in those school rooms.
