One of the four giant roughing stands in the 80-inch continuous hot strip mill at the Irvin Works of the Carnegie-Illinois Steel Corp., located on the Monongahela River above Pittsburgh - McKeesport - Clarion, Pa. This mill is of the universal type, being equipped with vertical rolls for edging strip steel. As the strip emerges from this mill, the end is squared by rotary shears.
