SHUTTLE ORBITER/747-An artist's concept showing the Space
Shuttle Orbiter spacecraft being hoisted onto a Boeing 747
carrier aircraft. Using "piggy-back" technique, the 747 aircraft
will carry orbiter to altitude and release it for approach and
landing tests, and transport the Orbiter from Rockwell Inter-
national's final assembly and checkout plant at Palmdale, Cali-
fornia to operational launch sites at the Kennedy Space Center,
Florida, and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.
