"Do any of you sitting here begin to
think that our disagreements, our
controversies, are even remotely as
severe as those that existed between
the colonies when they gathered in
Philadelphia trying to create a
Constitution? Their disagreements
were monumental, the democracy
that they were trying to create was
huge. It was so ugly, and the process
was so fraught with disaster, but it
happened. And it can happen in any
community."
David Henderson, a local educator, recounts
his words to a group struggling to resolve
their differences.
