In this remarkable photograph, Condorde is seen in
supersonic flight and at great height, with the
curvature of the earth clearly visible. The picture
was taken from a Tornado fighter aircraft in a
specially planned operation using a Hasselblad
camera and special lens.
Built jointly by British Aerospace and Aerospatiale
of France, Condorde is designed to cruise at 1400
mph at an altitude in excess of 50,000 feet. The
aircraft's dimensions are length 204', height 40',
wing span 83'10". It is powered by four Rolls-
Royce/SNECMA Olympus 593 turbojet engines.
