Two days later it pounded Puerto Rico and the Caribbean Islands and headed straight for the South Carolina coast. During the night and early morning hours of September 21 and 22, the 300-year-old city of Charleston, South Carolina was forever changed by the 135-MPH winds that came ashore. |
