lin was born in Boston, 1706 and arrived at
Philadelphia at the age of 17. He was a
great inventor, a successful printer, the first
Postmaster General and founder of the Uni-
versity of Pennsylvania. Of all the Patriots,
Franklin was the only one to sign all four
of the great state papers that achieved our
independence,-the Declaration of Independence,
mely the Treaty of Alliance with France, the Treaty
of Peace with England and the Constitution
of the United States. He was venerated for
benevolence, admired for talents, esteemed for
patriotism and beloved for philanthropy.
