BURNS'S MONUMENT AND THE SQUARE,
AYR.-The Monument was built in 1820 from
designs by Thomas Hamilton. Besides the
grounds attached to the Monument, there is
great natural beauty on the "banks and braes
o' bonnie Doon," and everywhere is "haunted
ground" peopled by the characters immortalized
by Robert Burns,
