Additional Details:
This stream with its mirror like waters uavigable for large steamboats is the overflow of the mysterious Silver Springs, and is none miles in length from Silver Springs to where it unites with the Ocklawaha River. Its current is very swift from the gushing springs along its headwaters making it hard work for the steamer to push around the numerous turns. Great beds of rock and shell formation, borderd by vari-colored mosses the home of many kinds of large fish and turtles, shoot upward a great body of boiling eddying crystal water over which the steamer glides with difficulty.
