On the slopes of the Blue Ridge, near the park,
the Indian princess, Trahlyta, forest floweAUGI! 9
discovered a clear spring which gave
her the
blessing of eternal youth. Kidnapped by lo chiel -AM
of a distant tribe, she died and was retułned to
her mountain home and buried under a mound1940
of stones still standing at Stone Pile Gap. The
forty-acre park lake honors her memory and pro-
vides a delightful refuge for fishing, boating,
and swimming. A bath house and several vaca-
tion cabins lie along its shores.
