Thiſ house is said to have been built in
1763/and if so is the oldest in Vermont.
It was erected, largely with his own
hands, by the Rev. Jedadiah Dewey, who
was the first resident preacher in Ben-
nington. It is in a perfect state of preser-
vation and is located about twenty rods
south of the Old First Church.
