The Calf represented on this card is the young of the domestic Bull and Cow, of Common skin marks excellent leather, and is great used for bookbinding and the making of boots. The flesh of the calf is called veal and is much esteemed. The name calf is also applied to the young of the Balham the Hippopotamus the Bison, the Buffalo, and various other mammals.
