MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT CENTER
MASSILLON, OHIO 44646
DUNCAN PLAZA - The focal point of the
center is a park like place for public gatherings:
dedicated to James Duncan, founder of the city
of MASSILLON in 1826. The flag pole com-
memorates the founding of the Daughters of
Union Veterans of the Civil War, organized in
Massillon in 1885. Duncan's wife named the
newly - created town 'MASSILLON" after
Louis XIV's Bishop of Clermont Jean-Baptiste
Massillon.
