The village of Oxford is the home of Miami
University, founded in 1809, and Western College
for Women, founded in 1853. This view is look-
ing west from near the entrance to Miami Uni-
versity. Oxford is approximately 35 miles north-
west of Cincinnati and 40 miles southwest of
Dayton on U.S. Route 27, six miles east of the
Indiana border.
