Helicopter brings a patient to Memorial. The hospi-
tal's 550 Medical Staff members, 1,000 volunteers
and 1,200 employees were recently cited by the
California State Senate forº unexcelled patient care
and 60 years of dedicated service" and in the U.S.
Congress for making "Memorial one of the finest
community medical centers in the country." In
1967, even as its 545 beds ranked Memorial-as the
largest single non-goverment hospitat on the West
Coast, plans were adopted to expand to more than
1,000 beds to keep pace with area needs.
