Bi-Centennial of the Massacre
June 2, 1763
This historic Fort, once occupied alternately by the
French, Indians, and British, is being reconstructed
as it was during the period of British rule
1760's and 1770's. On June 2, 1763, the British
garrison was massacred or taken prisoner by the
Chippewa Indians who used a game of Bagattiway
(Lacrosse) as a subterfuge to gain entrance to the
Fort.
