A BIRD'S EYE VIEW OF THE BATTLE GREEN
Lexington, Massachusetts
On the morning of April 19, 1775, seventy-seven minute men
faced 400 British soldiers on Lexington's triangular town green.
The result was the first bloodshed in the War for Independence.
Historic Buckman Tavern where the minute men gathered is at
the lower right. The bell tower that sounded the alarm is at the
lower left. The statue of Captain Parker is at the "point" of the
green.
