Paget, one of the nine parishes into which the islands of Bermuda are divided, is located opposite
the beautiful white coral city of Hamilton, the capital of the Colony. Paget is practically a residential
suburb of Hamilton, from which it is separated by the blue waters of the harbor across which steam
and rowboat ferries ply at frequent intervals. Or the city may be reached by a delightful drive, ride
or walk over one mile of the smoothest of coral roads along the shores of this Harbor and around its
eastern end. Many of the most prominent citizens of Bermuda have their ancestral homes here,
some on hilltops, others on the gently sloping hillsides, and yet others in the fertile valleys, where
sheltered from winter's occasional gales, yet securing the full benefits of summer's gentle breezes
flowers bloom in profusion and the air is redolent with their perfume. The roadsides are bordered
with hedges of oleander, with their magnificent trusses of spring and summer-borne flowers, ranging
from white, through shades of pink, to deepest carmine; the hibiscus, with its year through display of
gorgeous bloom; the many hued acalypha on which no two leaves are alike in coloring, whence its
local name of "match-me-if-you-can;" these and many other trees, shrubs and evergreen plants add
to the natural beauty of this delightful part of Bermuda. Little cottages nestle amidst the grey green
cedars; here a field of lilies, in their season sheets of dazzling white and indescribably sweet-smelling
flowers; there a field of onions, or potatoes, or some green vegetables; and yonder a beautiful stretch
of sandy beach with the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic rippling over its farther edge. Charming
