JIN-RIKI-SHA-S (human-powered rickshaws)
Additional Details:
A light two wheeled carriage used by the Japanese, drawn by men who go at great rate and have gone as high as eight miles an hour, and who seem tireless. Usually two men are employed, one to draw while the other runs behind and holds back the Jin-riki-sha when descending a hill. This is still the favorite mode of conveyance in Japan, due to lack of road facilities, for the more modern method. |
