MARCO POLO'S SHEEP
William V. Kelley Hall
Marco Polo's sheep (Ovis poli), named for the Venetian
traveler who first reported it, is the finest of all wild
sheep. It inhabits the high Pamir ranges of south central
Asia, beyond the main Himalayas-a region very difficult
of access.
