Additional Details:
Law-breaking was not uncommon among the pioneers who blazed the trail into the wild west. In fact, there was no law except the "six-gun" and it wasn't unusual for an argument to be settled in that fashion. Horse stealing was one of the pursuits followed by those who had no respect for the law. From the escapades and fates of these marauders this canyon near Dodge City took its name.
