PIER- PISMO BEACH, CALIFORNIA
The name, Pismo, is taken from the Indian word
PISMU meaning tar; large deposits of this substance
being found here. The present pier was built in 1925
at a cost of $120,000. The present pier is 1,107 feet
long after storms had reduced it from the 1,750 foot
pier of 1925. Fishing is good from the pier while
clam diggers dig along the shore. . . . M.P.
