Radio Station KFUN Las Vegas, New Mexico,
"Best Small Town Station in the Nation." operates full
time on 1230 kilocycles with 250 watts of power. An
unusual ground condition results in a day time effec-
tiveness equal to 1.000 watts! The adobe building is
situated a scant half mile from where ruts of the origin-
al Santa Fe Trail can still be seen. The Pecos Arroyo
skirts the base of the 100 foot bluff. The tower is 200
feet high. First broadcast was Christmas Day. 1941.
At an elevation of 6.500 feet, KFUN is one of the
highest radio stations in the United States.
