When the 150-room, $450,000 Goldfield Hotel
opened in 1908, there were three days and nights of
dancing and feasting. Here Goldfield's aristocracy
mingled with visiting nabobs. The hotel closed in
1936 but briefly opened during World War II. About
half of the rooms had private baths; most had brass
beds and deep carpets. It is presently privately
owned.
