The High School Building is a substantial brick
structure of twelve rooms, erected at a cost of twentv
thousand dollars: modern heating and sanitary systems:
Kirker-Bender Spiral fire escape; excellent library and
laboratory: school garden, and large play ground that
occupies a whole block.
The school maintains elementary, secondary and
normal departments and is conducted for nine months
in the year.
From an annual enrollment of 700 but fourteen
deaths have occured in twenty-five years, and for twenty
years the schools were never closed for a day nor part of a
day on account of the spread of any contagious disease.
