JOHN BURNS STATUE - A scene on Stone Avenue at the edge of Reynolds' Woods. In the foreground is Pennsylvania's contribution to the memory of John Burns. He was a citizen of Gettysburg and a though nearly 70 years of age, shouldered his rifle and, joining the troops of this portion of the field, fought with them until the Union forces withdrew. He was thrice wounded, but completely recovered and lived for nine years after. The monuments along the Chambersburg pike and McPherson barn also show.
