The Castaneda at Las Vegas is a long low building
two stories high, faced with brick, roofed with red
tiles and patterned after the Old California Missions.
It is named after Pedro de Castaneda, who was the
principal historian of Coronado's expedition into the
Southwest in 1540. Las Vegas is the second city
in New Mexico in size and commercial importance.
