The statue of Kamehameha I. which stands in front
of the Judiciary Building and just opposite to the Palace
is one of the sights of Honolulu. It was erected in honor
of the first King of Hawaii who conquered the entire island
and reigned from 1795 until 1819. He died at the age of
82 years in the faith of his ancestors and prepared the
way for civilization and Christianity and he stood far
above the other chiefs of his time. His burial place
is concealed.
