First Size American Piston Engine built in 1896. Diameter of Pumps, 5 1/2 -in., Steam Cylinders, 9 -in.; Stroke, 8 -in. drawn by three horses, is fitted with rubber tires and weights, ready for service, 8,940 lbs. In service at Station 4 from May 30, 1896, to Feb. 1, 1899, when it was removed to Station 8. combination Wagon built as Hose-Wagon in 1892, and changed to a Combination Wagon in 1899. Drawn by two horses, and is fitted with rubber tires and roller-bearing axies. Carries 800 ft. of 2 1/2 -in. Hose and 200 ft. of 3/4 -in. Hose. Is equipped with one 30-gal. Tank and weighs, ready for service, 4,250 lbs. Placed in service as a Hose - Wagon July 1, 1892; as a Combination Wagon, Nov. 26, 1899. Company consists of 1 cap., 1 Lieut., 5 Hose-men, 1 Engine - Man, 1 Asst. Engine-Man, 1 Engine -Driver, and 1 Hose-Driver. |
