The supreme amusement thrill of the Fair
is the “Sky-Ride.” The lofty towers of this
$1,000,000 attraction are 625 ft. high. They
are 2,000 ft. apart, one on the mainland
south of Soldier Field, and the other on
Northerly Island, and are topped with ob-
servation platforms. Elevators whisk pas-
sengers sixty stories aloft. From this height
it is possible to see three states. At the 200-
ft. level the towers are connected by stout
steel cables from which 10 rocket-propelled
cars, 33 ft. long, are suspended, traveling
þack and forth across the World's Fair
Lagoons.
