Directly across from Fort Dearborn is a
bit of Schwartzwald, the Black Forest of
Germany. It is a faithful reproduction of
German Village in winter. There is
synthetic snow on the roofs of the build-
ings, big icicles hanging from the eaves,
snow-covered hills in the background, and
a frozen mill pond in the center where ice
skating is featured all summer long.
