construction, except for five steel spans (300
feet each) across deep water channel. Cen-
tral span is a lift span, giving a clearance
of 135 feet when raised, to allow vessels
to pass.
It reduces automobile travel be-
tween San Francisco and Central and South-
ern California points by thirty minutes.
