HISTORIC LANDMARK, RUSSELLVILLE, KENTUCKY
Main and Sixth Street
OLD BANK ROBBED . . . 1868
Part of the building, pictured here, was erected about
1810 by William Harrison. It was used as a residence
by him and later by a family by name of Norton. In
1857 the front part of the structure was completed for
use by the Southern Bank of Kentucky. On March 20,
1868, this was the scene of a holdup by the notorious
JESSE JAMES gang, who escaped with over $9,000.00
after the bank president was wounded.
