The famous Indian Ceremonial; the Hopi Indian Snake Dance is held annually, high on a mesa, overlooking the Painted Desert. The unique and colorful costumes worn by the Hopi Indians have their special significance in the interpretation of the sacred Dancers. Each of the colorful costumes represents its own individual dance and serves to interpret the gyrations of its wearer. They are known as "The Yacca Skirt Dancer, The Rug Dancer, The Rainbow Dancer," etc.
