The famous Indian Ceremonial, the Hopi Indian Snake dance is held annually high on a mesa overlooking the Painted Desert. The unique and colorful costumes worn by the Hopi Indians have their special significance in the interpretations of the sacred dances. Each of the colorful costumes represents its own individual dance and serves to interpret the rhythmic motions of its wearer. They are known as The Skirt Dancer, The Rug Dancer, The Rainbow Dancer, etc.
