The beautiful Federal building, opposite Jarvis Plaza,
houses the Post Office, Immigration, Customs, and other
Federal departments. Laredo, being the foremost port
of entry for immigrants from Mexico, the Immigration
office is the most important on the border. Equally, the
Customs office shared in importance, as more shipments
go into Mexico through Laredo than through any other
border port.
