A Chemehuevi Indian Girl. Native to Arizona and the
Colorado Desert is the Chemehuevi tribe of Indians,
an offshoot of the Piute Indian, both tribes speaking the
same language. As a people, they are peaceable, moral
and industrious, and possess great solidity of character.
The Ghost Dance, held at night in the open air, originated
among the Chemehuevi Indians.
