San Felipe may not be the most beautiful of the
Rio Grande Indian pueblos; but its five hundred
primitive inhabitants like to live here, because of
easy access to their irrigated fields close by. The
waters of the Rio Grande are utilized by a network
of ditches. The village church was built early in
the eighteenth century.
